3. The visit in the local hospital to cure altitude sickness & salmonella
PARON LAKE (LAGUNA PARON)
What we will remember:
Stunning 3,7km lake filled with completely turquoise water — surrounded by multiple snowcapped mountains
The first “holy sh*t you can feel the altitude” breath in 4200m after 1 minute of uphill walking
The sketchy mountain road with spectacular views from the tourist bus window
Huascarán National Park — LAKE 69 (LAGUNA 69)
What we will remember:
The breathtaking views around the highest mountain in Peru (Huascarán, 6768m) — in Huascarán National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
The breathtaking (literally) climb to the Lake 69 itself
A reasonable dose of selfie tourism
CORDILLERA HUAYHUASH
What we will remember:
The 10 days of PURE BLISS while wandering across the mountain range without any idea of what’s happening in the world (Yerupajá kept our eyes glued on it)
Sunset viewed in San Antonio peak (5100m) after a long day of climbing
The Andean condors, alpaca and viscachas — and to be honest, all the exciting animals out there :D
Quick swims in the icy, turquoise mountain lakes
The company of our awesome guide Michel and arriero Ronald whose donkeys were playing hide and seek every morning
