What we will remember:

1. The legendary Belen Market with its bizarre selection of products

   2. The noise of hundreds of moto-taxis driving like crazy

   3. The three hours spent in the local cyber café, uploading our video from Huaraz to the cloud

LA ISLA DE LOS MONOS

What we will remember:

1. A heartwarming rescue & rehab center for monkeys — victims of illegal trafficking and hunting

2. The funny pile of baby woolly monkeys getting attached to you (literally)

3. The feeling of “I guess I’ll stay here forever as a volunteer to take care of the one-year-old saki monkey that looks like a grandpa”

The center is facing financial troubles (lack of visitors due to Covid-19). Feel free to “adopt a monkey” from laisladelosmonos.org

THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

What we will remember:

1. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle (everything chirping and howling around you)

2. The excitement of entering the rainforest — never knowing what you’ll see

3. Riikka’s first caught fish (ever) that happened to be a piranha
